About me
Hi, I am Steffen.

I am a Software engineer, hobby woodworker, husband and proud father of two sons; in reverse priority order.
Together with my family, I live in Bondorf, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
I was born in 1970 in Karl-Marx-Stadt (today Chemnitz). After school, an apprenticeship as a radio mechanic, army service, and the Fachabitur, I studied communications engineering from 1992 to 1996 at the Hochschule Mittweida and at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, where I defended my diploma thesis in 1996.
From September 1996 to the end of 2000, I was a doctoral candidate at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg and a scholarship holder in the research training group "Spatial Statistics". Since January 2001 I have been working as a software developer at IBM Deutschland Entwicklung GmbH.
Together with Ronald Schulz and Mike Lischke, I co-founded the student newspaper Campus Times in 1995. I wrote articles for it regularly, and often the editorial, for example:
- CaTi 4/94: Kneipentest II, Zonefeeling pur
- CaTi 4/94: Imbisstest oder Gibt es eine Alternative (co-author: C.P. Malek)
- CaTi 5/94: Geheimer Schatz
- CaTi 1/95: Campus Times hilft: Das Schicksal des Arno F. (attention: this is a GAG !!!)
- CaTi 2/95: McMensa (attention: this is also a GAG !!!)
- CaTi 2/95: Die traurige Geschichte des Arno F. - Teil II
- CaTi 4/95: Was passiert am Campus in Sachen Baustellen ?
- CaTi 5/95: Auslandskorrespondenz
